The helmets they give ya have visors, and after 5 mins of the wind/rubber, you are glad it's down (they make you put it down anyways, but you can crack it open while racing)
which is another point. the first couple of heats, you will probably white knuckle the steering wheel the whole time. I couldn't find time to scratch my leg until heat #4 or something, and even then it was a rushed jabbing motion.
Now I can take one hand off the wheel for some corners, and even glance over at the race timer to guesstimate my lap speeds.

Just good times. Other drivers there will talk about the quick glances they use to find people coming up on them.
I don't know what it's called, but F1 drivers dont look down to see their speed/rpm/lap times, they glance for a split second and quickly look back to the track, only to remember and translate what they just saw in their minds.
You'll do that a lot there.
