I guess what it is about her that bothers me is that everytime I see or hear her I picture an army of Stepford Wives...
this is so true!

What can I say...I don't like her AND what she did was not only wrong, but since she came from the Wall Street world she KNEW it was wrong. I don't really wish her harm or death or anything evil like that...but a little bit of embarassment (and possibly an electroshock or two) along the way seems fair...

I don't really know her enough to like her or hate her. I don't really like the way she treats Conan O'Brien though.

I think they are throwing her in jail because she lied in court or something. What she allegedly did (i.e,. trading with insider knowledge) is unethical at best. I'm not really sure if it was ever proven that she actually sold those shares because of insider knowledge... *shrugs*. I think the government is just trying to make an example of her, and the bracelet thing is kind of fcuked up... IMO

have u watched her show? its really quite good
Tried to watch it a few times, but it truly drives me nuts. Everything from the tone of her voice to the surreal soft lighting just seems too idyllic for me...

I grant that she has a talent for what she does, but it's so not my style and neither is she...

I think the price of Martha Stewart stock is up 35% or something after the verdict. I guess she made back some of what she lost.

Her broker just got almost the same sentence except for a smaller fine.

I concur that she's not being tossed in the clink because of the insider trading, but because of the lying. I also concur that she's being made and example of. Frankly, she's getting off pretty easy.

That said, I don't think she's an unusually bad person. I think there are LOTS of Martha Stewart-like wealthy people that don't necessarily think they're ABOVE the law...they simply don't even CONSIDER the law...

She shouldn't just be an example...she should be the start of a long line of white collar criminals spending some time at a resort on "the other side of the tracks" like Martha is...

As for the bracelet...if the option was prison or house arrest with a bracelet I'd take the bracelet...unless she WANTS to be someone's bitch...

wow guys, ure being kinda harsh. she didnt kill anyone. and to be honest, her show was quite addicting
People forget that what she did was take peoples money. Steal from them.

A rich person who steals some working stiff's retirement money should get more that 5 months in a soft prison.

IMO.

I guess if you put it that way, I'll opt for the bracelet as well.

I also agree about white collar criminals. However, I'm not sure if throwing them in prison is quite enough, sometimes. Especially those who took so much from the poor *cough*Ken Lay (if allegations are true)*cough*. I just think it's really ed up that he took all this money from the poor, but because of legal issues (I think he put all that money he stole into a life insurance policy?), the court can't really touch his money, and the victims will never get their money back. Really ed up.

I think the laws should be amended to protect the masses from these sort of people. But then again, it's not in the best interest of the politicians/lawyers/rich folks to have the law changed...
