I have a question for everyone:
are we really as mean and unwelcoming as people outside of the Corner say we are?
Ive been having conversations with some people today and they are extremely negative about the Corner way of life. Is this true?

I've already said my piece on this.
From an outsiders perspective, we probably appear pretty mean to each other, even, with all the jokes and chiding, and I can definately see how a woman would be repulsed by what's said.

Some say that about street encounter.
I believe that some of us say things that we don't feel is insulting (b/c we know each other) but to another person seems really offensive/sexist/gross/revolting/etc...
don't really have a good solution to this. I enjoy the quirk of all the
s. That is why this place is cool.
my best solution is to put a sticky up top that says: please take all that is said in here lightly and please don't be offended. In return I don't think we should be too agressive with the Noob. If they start a thread that we don't like, just let that thread die.

i was told that people will start threads introducing themselves and we either post 1 or 2 posts or ignore them....i mean personally i dont think thats the way to become friends...just jump in and offer your 2 cents...thats what i did.

It has gotten worse over time IMO.
I could see where a newbie would be intimidated when every thread is almost all inside jokes and such. Hell...I even feel more alienated at this time than I ever have felt in the Corner. Which is why you don't see me posting in almost every thread like I used to. The numbers of people here have grown....and things have changed.
Not that there is anything wrong with evolution, but the corner is a lot more cliquish and judgemental than it was at it's birth.
