ATTN All: I'm leaving the Board for good.

"The only reason I called it quits was that all the lateral Gs I was pulling had my head flopping around like a newborn baby's. Not to mention that I couldn't focus my vision on the road in front of me -- no small concern when you're zipping along at better than 110 mph with your keister two inches from the pavement."
those superkarts are badass... ours doesnt have digital mapping/display, no carbon-fiber bodywork, no aerospace-grade metals, nothing fancy

exactly.
a 125 shifter is already dangerous... as soon as you get in, your life expectancy drops to 30min
anything larger and you're just nuts. these karts dont have seat belts, much less a fire suppression system. the only point in big motors in small karts is just to do it.
im sure you've seen the vid of the kart with the gixxer 1100 motor? an r1 motor would be just as crazy.
btw, that superkart is VERY heavy. a 125 shifter-style kart would weigh in at about 350-375lb w/o driver. the superkarts are a bit heavier - they have HUMONGOUS axles, big frame rails, and significantly larger motors.
