I have had to do this a couple of times now.

If you feel you can have a talk with him/her, do. If not, leave a note. If there's anything I've learned this year in particular, it's that you need to speak the truth, and then man-up to the consequences.

That said, you need to identify what you perceive the problem to be. Find examples, listen carefully, and work the problem.

If the problem is he/she isn't willing to face the problem, then part ways knowing you did your best. Leave an opportunity for him/her to make amends.
He's not a drug addict or anything. He just makes horrible decisions financially and in other areas of his life and never listens to anyone. If anyone gives him the slightest bit of criticism or even advice... because, you know, we're his friends and don't want to see him fuk up... he gets stubborn, argumentative, defensive, and generally becomes a huge asshole. It's led me to give up on having any sort of serious conversation with him.

Oh and he's also suffering from "I just found the only girl who has ever wanted to sleep with me, and therefore I'm in love and will do anything she wants and ignore my friends" syndrome. We've all seen that one.

Ahhh.

Been there too. This is where the whole "be honest and prepare to let it go" bit comes into play.

Like what Ghandi said, sometimes you have to be the change you want to see.

Simply tell him how you're seeing things. . . if/when he asks. Otherwise, spend only enough time with him so you don't lose your own sanity.

Have him look himself in the mirror and ask him if he likes what he see's.

Just a suggestion.

I always do. That may not be the best indicator. I've been told I'm an arrogant bastard but I just don't see it.

Unkie T,
I am trying to think of good ideas for vacations. Looking from somewhere around the greater New Mexico area. I have to stay in the US since my wife does not have a passport. Leaving the kids at home. Something fun for a married couple to do.

Any ideas, suggetsions?
