He's right about getting closer to his price once the 04's come out, 3-5k though? I don't know about that one, I'll have to both wait and see and hope it doesn't do anything that radical! He does seem to have quite an impressive corral, several heavy hitters and even players to be named later, a Steinbrener of car collecting... so who knows.

below 17K for s2k??.....here we have a, so called, "dumb-ass" who couldnt really figure out the market conditions.
my question is "would you sell yo s2k with low mileage, clean title and never been in an accidents for below 17K?" even if a yr passed by? I dont think you would unless ur uneducated.
a piece of crappy shiet might be able to waiting for ya. good luck!

for a clean title, its impossible. if you find one for 17k, i'll pay 18k and u get to keep a G. haha.
last s2k i sold to my friend, was a 2000 model, blk/blk, nothing
wrong, 12k miles, but theft recovery (salvaged) title, for $18K.

i saw one sell for 17,500 in the southeast...(forgot what state...maybe penn?) why is california so high? all the dealers around my area are STUCK with s2k...i test drove one to buy one...but tranny wasn't smooth...it was 00' model with 46k miles...he wanted 24k, but i lowballed him to 18 and he said no...so i said forget it...and now its been sittin on his lot for close to 4 months...and his price dropped to 20,500..so why is 17 a big shot? im sure if the 04s are good enough...03below will drop to Miata price...(?)

Wait until February when it has been raining in the Bay Area for two months or so - $17-$18k should not be too hard. I have been watching the S2000 market over the past year, and in the last six months resale values have taken a serious tumble. $24-$25 and higher was a standard asking price for MY00 last year, now you can see lots of $21-$22ks (with still a few local Bay Area dreamers asking $32k).
The fact that values continue to fall during the height of summer is a bad sign. $17-19k MY00s will be standard by the end of winter.

LOL you guys are great. It is good to see that most people are here to jack up the price of S2K
If all people who own my car model do the same thing as you guys, I won't lose $$$ every year because of depreciation.
Basic economic : mass production car will depreciate period
I learnt this the hard way.
Thanks guys.

right now Michael A is trying to sell his 53k mileage S2000 for $20k (or so)... ....that is only $3k off the target...plus I don't think he will have any luck at that price... He says he was offered $18,500 on trade....but I assume that is because they are jacking him a little on the price of the new car..... I doubt he could even get $18,500 privately selling the S2000....
So..you are now only $1500 off the target in my opinion.
