Tri-State Area: 2004 Suzuka S2000 31.5k miles
I've been throwing the idea around of getting a larger vehicle and wanted to get a feel of the market for the S. I work in South Jersey, but live in Long Island, NY right now (commute on weekends), but will be moving to South Jersey within the next few months. My S is in its last 11 months of a 48 month lease. I know that any car dealer will offer me a buyout on my lease if I decide to buy a car from them (I've already had an offer), but I hate trading in vehicles and would much rather sell it to an enthusiest in the forums. I've been paying for a 60k mile lease and only have a bit over 30k on the car. Obviously, I'm not going to put another 30k on the car in less than a year, so the car is worth a bit more than my current buyout and will still be at lease termination. I'm thinking about getting a new car in the next month or two. I'm not looking forward to getting rid of this car because I love it, but life will go on without the S2000.
It's in excellent condition (garaged for most of its life). I've kept my own service records on Honda's Owner Link site, but to summarize: Oil has been changed every 4-5k miles with Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 and Honda PCX filters. I've been using synthetics since 4,500 miles. The air filter and cabin air filters have been replaced and the valves were adjusted by me about 5,000 miles ago. The tranny and differential fluid were changed at 12k miles with Honda MTF/Mobil 1 gear lube. The car is stock except for a Optima battery, wide angle side view mirrors, a Rick's custom blue leather shift boot, genuine JDM clear OE side markers, and a Honda block heater. I replaced the OE tires with Falken RT-615's last spring at 23k miles (the ever popular 225/45-17 in the front and 255/40-17 in the rear). They still have a lot of rubber left on them. I can't think of anything else right now. I'm anal, like most of us enthusiests are, so the car's been taken well care of.
The car does have a new bumper, headlights and hood. I spun out 2 years ago being an idiot trying to drive in about an inch of snow with the OE RE050's on the car. I wasn't going fast, but we all know how this car is in the snow with hi-po tires. I tagged a concrete divider, but was sliding at more of a 90 degree angle to it, so I hit it at 5-10mph. Unfortunately, it was enough to F up the bumper and bent the soft aluminum hood in the process. The headlights looked undamaged, but I guess there was some hardware bent that I couldn't see and the body shop replaced them. Other than that, no frame damage and airbags did not deploy. It's funny because the bumper matches the rest of the car a lot better than it did from the factory! Go figure. There is also a little curb rash on the right rear wheel, unrelated to the snow incident, which I never bothered to get fixed. Didn't think it was worth spending $400 for a new wheel.
I have a set of 16" Fox 5 wheels with snow tires from TireRack also that I will sell with the car or will sell separately when the time comes. They have about 1,500 miles on them TOPS. Pics below.
KBB with 31,500 miles is $24,140 in excellent condition. I'll put it out there for $23,000 without snows and $23,500 with snows. This is my daily driver so I will adjust price comensurate with mileage as needed. Again, this car is leased. I do have cash in hand to buy the car off right now. If one were commited to buying this car from me, I would need a deposit to show commitment, as I would not really want to buy the car from Honda and then have someone back out and screw me. Basically the way this will work is I will send a check to Honda, they will send me the title and then we can complete the sale. This of course will not happen overnight. Honda will not transfer leases, so that is out of the question.
