more power to those who can take advantage of others..

I was a car sales person for a couple of months and did my fair share of that..

If you don't have the balls to get a good deal.... there is always carmax "Selling to the weak"

The trick is to not take any shiiiiiit.

just have a price in mind and make the phone calls.....

sooner or later, a dealership that moves a lot of cars, will take you up on your offer

If the car checks out ... the deal is done.

It is a game.... some can play and win... others should hire me to do the dirty work

by the way some people drive off the lot with their new S2k "out the door" For 29k$ or less.
Are you smoking crack? I sell Honda's for a living as a manager for one of the largest Honda dealers in the United States and there is no way you can get a new S2000 for $29,000 out the door. If you came to me and offered that, I will definitely show you out the door and probably have one of my lot porters key your car before you leave. Please take your BS and lowball offers to:

http://oc.cityvibe.com/cgi-bin/show.cgi?mo...OC&ad=000120001

maybe you can negotiate with her on pricing.
Car salesperson for a couple of months? I've been selling cars for 11 years and I've seen and hired a ton of "green peas". The ones with your kind of attitude end up leaving the car business and become drivers for escort agencies making $5.75 an hour.

PS. If I did sell you a new S2000 for $29,000 out the door, it would have been in an accident. Maybe when one of the salesman took it out to pick up our burrito lunch, he/she thrashed it so we would sell it "As Is". This happens more than you think. Also, those lowball prices on Autotrader or e-Bay being sold by these hole in the walll dealerships are either salvaged, wrecked, flood damaged, confiscated drug enforcement cars or just smells like dirty feet. I mean really dirty FEET.

I can trade my 2005 S with 7,000 miles for around $24-25k. That is what they are selling at the Manheim wholesale auto auction of Southern California. Do you have a wholesale license? I don't think so. I'm sure I can sell it private party for a bit more, don't you think?

Car got sold today to carmax for $22,000. Thx guys for all the help. Close post plz.
Awesome man! Great job. I sold my RX-8 that I drove for 4 months to Carmax and actually made a $800 profit. So I drove the car for free for 4 months since I put no money down and just $500 for first payment and license fees (it didn't cover the entire fees, part of it was rolled into the price of the car). Carmax gives top dollar for trades in most cases. Sometimes they lowball you. Depends on the appraiser at the time and their current inventory.

It's a shame that those 2 lowballers in this thread were offering you $1,500 less than what you basically "Traded In" the car for at Carmax. Good job! Your car at the auction would bring in between $21k-22k. Carmax probably needed an S on their lot to make it look nice so they paid you the top half of the going rate.

You sound like a real professional. I highly doubt you are a manager at a large scale Honda dealer with that attitude. If you are for some strange reason, you must have keyed a lot of cars, since a lot of people make low offers as part of their negotiations.

With that attitude, you should be a lot boy at best.

BTW, I started off as a lot boy. The key his/her car thing was just out of anger, but I would never do something like that to anyone, even if they did something worse than a lowball. Besides, there are some crazy people out there, just a few months ago a salesman was killed by some nut car shopper that was denied a test drive in a Corvette at a Chevy dealership in Cerritos, CA. He was stabbed to death.

Back to your comments....Professionalism is something you earn, if you splat out things like "by the way some people drive off the lot with their new S2k "out the door" For 29k$ or less. " You DESEVER NO RESPECT. Especially when someone is trying to sell their car here. I understand if the seller was asking $35k for his car when you can get it new for less and this poster was trying to "protect" this community, but I doubt this was his/her intention.

I'm glad not everyone is like this guy/gal. All the dealerships in the United States would have to close their doors and we would have to travel to Japan to buy our S2000's and have them shipped over here, go through customs, then the DOT test, etc. etc..
I understand your point. Thanks.
