Default Worth it?

Is this a safe method? I purchased a K&N filter today and was thinking about doing this project.

That was done on my AP1 by the previous owner - no issues whatsoever, and the sound was noticeable.

Did you keep the top on or off? Logically I would think that the top would increase vacuum, and reduce heat. Or does the plastic produce heat? hmmm...

Not worth the effort IMO. Not a fan of hacking up perfectly good factory part with no real promise of gain. Spoon uses the factor box with a snorkel. I think its safe to assume if they don't feel its worth doing, then it probably is not worth it.

^ I agree. This mod is all about sound. To some people, that is worth it, to others, maybe not. I will probably do this again to my '05 at some point, because I do like the sound with a K&N and a resonator-ectomy.

I am aiming for sound because personally an exhaust, headers, and intake are not worth the money anyways. My plan is to upgrade them for pure sound and I figured this is a cheap alternative to a good sounding intake.

"resonator-ectomy" what is that?
