coming to pope afb for about 3months to do a job, any good spots to take a drive? what's around there. couldn't really find anything on the puter.

 

Check out the Pinehurst Eat Meet & Drive threads, there were two events in 2003(one last month and early November.. I think) and I posted the directions for the spirited drive, it's a great one. Some of the best Horse Country is just west of Pope AFB in Pinehurst/Southern Pines. You can always hook up with us too!

Sorry for being late on this, I have been stuck at work due to the bad weather. March, April, May are great times to be in North Carolina however. We really only have about 2 1/2 months of cold weather. As far as places to drive the S the bad news is that there are no decent roads in Cumberland county. The good news is that the surrounding counties are much better. As VROOOM mentioned the drive in Moore County is fantastic, and its only about 30min. from Pope. I also know of some other twisties that I would be glad to show you. More good news is that we Carolinas members meet for spirited drives quite often. There are even some track days coming up if I am not mistaken. There used to be more Fayetteville S2k owners but it seems like I am the only one left. But the Raleigh/Cary crowd is right up the street and they frequently meet for dinner and drinks. So although Fayettenam is void of all other forms of fun and excitement, it is in a pretty good location to catch some S2k action.
