Post Why I bought a new S2000

The weekend of April 23-24 this year, my sons and I went to the "Tail of the Dragon" at Deals Gap NC/Tenn. I was driving a 91 RX 7. Oldest son in a 89 RX7 and youngest son in a 2002 Miata. We were doing well on the run. All pumped up with rotary juice. as we were running down the mountain, a group of S2Ks came up on us which we allowed to pass. I busted a gut trying to keep up with them but to no avail. I found out that there were about 225 S2Ks there for an event that weekend. I got to meet several of the owners and after getting a close look at the machines decided that might be the one for me. When I got back home, I had in mind to test the RX8. Did so and found it lacking in many areas. It felt like a sedan which handled well.
I then arranged a test drive with a local dealer to try the S2K. I talked him I wanted a car that I could wring out so he let me take a demo out. I fell in love with 6K RPMs. I came back to the dealer and bought my Suzuka Blue 05 S2K. word got out to my roterhead friends who felt I had somehow betrayed them . After I described the handling of this machine, they forgave me and a couple said they might also go to the "dark side" and buy one.
I am very pleased to be a part of this unique club. If anyone is interested in what the S2K looks like in front of the Mazdas, you can check out our video of the event at this site. Long download however. See yall.

Congrats - I used to have an RX-7 too, found the RX-8 lacking, and found the S2k to be absolutely great! Welcome to the club!

No, but I am a civilian contractor on Camp Lejuene. There's actually a few recognizable names from Rx7club here....RickFD3S being one of them. I can't remember the others, but they are here. You should come to MB this weekend for the meet.

I bought my S2K a week before the meet. I was at Deals Gap that morning (just in case: I was'nt the idiot posted on killboy). but only got to make a couple passes. I didn't meet up with anyone cause I felt out of place. The g/f and I actually got there wednesday and stayed through Sunday. We had a blast in that area. Sounds like you guys did too.

Good Buy , Hope you continue to enjoy it. I miss my 88 10th Anniversery RX7 a little, but when it comes to dependability its hard to beat the S2000. No worrying about bad apex seals anymore.
