Oh Lord!! I was really scared for a minute!

Anna and I chose the Matthews area for our home and we really like it. From work, its about 20 minutes and with traffic never over 30 minutes.

Simply prepare them...if they are picky at all, it will take a little while!

The absolute BEST realtor is the one we worked with! Gloria Harvitt from Coldwell Banker. She will take great care of your son! She is what other Realtors want to live up to be...seriously! Anna and I really enjoyed working with her! This was only our 3rd house, but she was by far the very best we have ever dealt with!

I'll post her number here in a minute...

Also, once they've settled in to the area, let us know...I'm sure we could meet them to learn some dirt on YOU!!!
No way you will meet my son and corrupt him!!!

I'll pass along all the info to him regarding where to look at... I'll turn him on to your realtor so they have someone to work with....

Maybe you can get some commission from her Some new parts for the S2000?

Thanks again....

Give Raul a break... everyone else has to work twice as hard to run up their PPD

If you don't mind me throwing in my $.02. If they could live in Union County ie: Weddington, Indian Trail, Wesley Chapel they may be able to get a bit more home as the property taxes are far less than in Mecklenburg. Just a thought
with gas prices these days and working in charlotte, the drive to and from union county to work 5 times a week would negate the tax savings you would recieve from living so far out. Also, emergency services take longer to reach you the further out you live. And DSL works slower!

20 miles a day X 5 days =100 miles... 100/25 MPG = 4 gal. extra a week. 4 gal/week X 3.04 a gallon = $12.12 a week.....$12.12 a week X 52 = $630.24 a year.

And that's if you dont go anywhere for fun in charlotte or do extra driving and only if one person drives to work.

It USED to be affordable to live outside meckelnburg until gas prices went up........it is STILL beneficial for people who own houses worth over $350,000!

So my old man talked me into signing up for this forum...

First off, thank you to everyone who has submitted their input!

I'm actually mapping it all out to see where it relates to her school in an attempt to make some sort of educated decision as to where to start looking. If you could.... most of the locations you have provided are in the south, which I am not opposed to, but her school is further north-west. So, does anyone have any input on the neighborhoods further north?

Also, what is the expected completion date of the 485 loop?

Matthews was mentioned by several people and it is actually one of the places we checked out while we were down there... its one of them that I really liked. This is where the 485 completion comes into play, since her school is near the part that still hasn't been finished... we would be more willing to look in the southern regions if the loop will be completed within a year or so.

Airgate and crew - I would be more than willing to spill the dirt on him for your continued help

Thanks again,
~ Andy

If it's North West I'd check out the Concord/Huntersville area, or University. IMHO University is the more ghetto of the 3, but that's largely due to the student population.

Belmont and the area between Belmont and Charlotte around Lake Wiley used to be good and rural - don't know what's there anymore, but there was never a lot going on in west and north Charlotte. Just be wary of the airport's proximity.

Dilworth is nice for the smaller, older homes and urban renewal, and is central - lots of young couples there. The triangle between Southpark, Park Rd and Pineville-Matthews Rd and Providence Rd has always been nice and has bigger homes and neighborhoods, and its inside trhe belt line.

The nice thing about Charlotte is that you can pretty easily live in the city, in suburbia, or in the sticks for about the same money - it just depends on how far you want to drive.
