Default Well, my self-imposed vtec ban only lasted a day

So, with gas prices on the rise and a possible supply shortage on the horizon, I thought I would do the responsible thing and try to stay out of vtec around town. Um, it didn't work.

This car is like the little devil on your shoulder. When trying to drive "responsibly", it spends the whole time whispering in your ear. "Come on. What are you doing? Punch it already." Plus, the weather was so nice this morning, and I had my fast drivin' music on.

Anyway, going cold turkey clearly isn't going to work. So now, I will just try to vtec less, I guess.

Anyone else changing anything due to the "energy crisis"?

I've been driving the car less of lates just because I've been so busy, so I guess it works out for the better given the current energy situation.

I only hit vtec once a week anywanys. I don't see how you guys do it, most of the time in town I shift at 4k..5kMAX, if I went any higher I would look like a jackass speeding around town.

Tyler, I'm not sure that has anything to do with when you are shifting...

I tried too but when you are stopped waiting for the traffic light to change with a car on your left and another on your right, it is so hard not to pull away just because you could.

I drive about 10 miles in town, and 12 on the Interstate.

If I maintain control and only VTEC when necessary I'm getting over 28 MPG by setting the cruise control at 62 (left lane avg 80mph) and staying in the right lane on the Interstate. My previous driving happy habits net only 25 MPG.

So, 3 MPG over 1000 miles (about a month) equates to a difference of 4.3 gallons of gas, which can save me about $15 per month!!!

WTF

VTEC 10 times per day and have a blast
