Default This weekend: PDE at CMP

Hey all,
My friend (from my Subaru days) is the local auto-x chair for CCR. Anyways, they've just put together a last minute PDE at CMP this weekend (10/15-16).

If you've never been on a track or just want to keep your skills fresh, this will be a great opportunity. If you new, there will be instructors there to show you the lines or help you with getting comfortable. Heck, you might get me

The prices are REALLY low, so money (hopefully) won't be an issue. The nice thing about this one is you can ppick one day or both.

Here the link: click here

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll pass them on.

I'll love to see some other S out there!

damn, this is tempting. I hate that I put myself on a spending freeze. I want to go SO badly, and that price isn't bad at all. Definately next time though. Gotta save that cash...

Tempting, tempting, tempting!

Never done an SCCA event before; do our standard roll-hoops qualify, or do they require rollbars? (or any other non-stock S2K items?) I'm assuming you must pass standard tech inspection (tire tread, brakes, etc.)

I also wondered about the roll bars. I was surprised when I went to a NASA event at Summit Point and found that my S qualified with the factory bars. i know its not safe but i would try it anyway. With my helmet on, my head sticks up about 4 inches over the bar.

the windshield frame takes the force of a roll, not the "roll bars." The roll bars in the S are mainly just for looks...

I've done 3 track days; 2 of them at CMP. One was a TurnOne HDE day, and one was when the Atlanta S2K group rented the track for the day this summer. In both of those cases, no extra rollbar was required.

However, one of our Carolina members (cashout) went to CMP with a Porsche Club, and that particular club required that he have after-market roll protection, so he went all the way down there and didn't get to run.

Just wanted to make sure the SCCA rules didn't require one; CMP allows our cars stock.

Ron and I are both interested; Ron would come for both days, me for Saturday only. We'll decide tonight after we know about the bar thing. THANKS!

I'm definitely interested as well. Probably just for Sunday. Let us know about the roll hoops.

I just talked to the event chair. He said the factory roll-over protection is fine for the S. Provided the driver isn't 7' tall....ie significantly taller than the roll hoops.

Also, he pointed me to a PDF with full details of the event here:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEve...psevent_id=4292

Right now, there are only three people regged for the event. So you'll be sure to get plenty of track time. He told me the track is already rented for another event, so they will NOT cancel do to low attendance...you'll just get more space to play

I'd love to see others out there. I'm just signed up for Sunday right now
