Visiting Topsail
Good folks from NC!!! +1 and I are headed to Topsail for some r & r the first week of May. We'll spend some time doing some sightseeing, etc. in Wilmington. Are there any points of particular interest we should see or anything happening near the Topsail area that would be a no-miss event? We love the area and have visited a few times, but I'm sure those who live there know some great restaurants and/or places of interest. Thanks!!

Topsail is just north of Wilmy where I am. There's not much happening here the first week of May. Early April is the best time to be here with the NC Azalea Festival. This weekend (April 17) is the Coastal Carolinas Airshow.
You should really plan to take a day trip to Wilmy. There are lots of historic areas here, the downtown waterfront, the beaches, Fort Fisher (last confederate sea port). There's lots of info on the net.

If you can go to the aquarium on Carolina Beach, go see the battleship in wilmington. If you can come to Jacksonville, its about 30mins north of Topsail and stop by the surfshop I work at (sundays). You definately need to go surfing.

I am moving to Surf City (Topsail) early June. I was accepted to UNCW and Im living in our beach home there. Anyway, definately check out Spinaker's surf shop. Also, Island delights has real good ice cream. Soundside has very good food but is slightly pricey. If you have any questions let me know!
