Update from cutuesday
Hi everyone I am sorry that it has been so long since I posted but I have not had much access to the internet. This note is going to be short because I do not have much time. Everything is going well here at Al Asad, Iraq. This was Saddam's main air base. It was built in the 80's in an ancient river bed and the buildings were designed to withstand nuclear war. The building I am working out of has two foot thick concrete walls, ceiling, and strucutral members. I feel pretty safe when in the station. When I am out and about it is a different story. There is an oasis at the edge of the base. Supposedly Moses stopped there during his journey. I would not have stopped there because it is not what an oasis is commonly depicted as. It is more like a swamp in the desert and its full of vipers and scorpians.
We are working six days a week 16 hour days and on call the remaining eight. The weather has been good though, albeit a little warm the first two weeks. As soon as I have my camera shipped, I'll take some pictures to post.
I have to go now but I'll post some more info as soon as possible.
