traveling through your area
Hello fellas On Jan. 22nd I will be making a trip up to Gatlinburg for the weekend. My question is how realistic is it to drive there w/o snow tyres in January weather in my S. I probably won't do a whole lotta driving when I get there but I would like to make it there. I figured since Gatlinburg is so close to the boarder and I think im going to traveling via s.c. &n.c. the I would get opinions from you guys. Thanks in advance

SC you shouldnt really have a problem, NC is debatable and Gatlinburg as well...ive been there some winters and snow isnt really a problem on the roads, then again sometimes snow is thick on the ground...just depends on how bad the snowfall is that week

doubt i would drive the S from GA to TN in Jan.
It has beena cold year, and snow stormms come up real quick in the mountains.
Roads can close (I40 is still closed i believe) and you are basically SOL going on back roads.
I wouldnt even want to risk it on snow tires. it is the other guy you have to worry about.
