Default Toyota in NASCAR racing

Well, I havent given this idea much thought, but on the way to work this morning listening to 2 guys named Chris on Rock 92, they were discussing it with some call in listeners. I was almost set back as to some of the answers I heard were retarded! I understand we are one of the birthplaces of racing, and there more than enough red blooded, die hard racing fans. There were more than a couple listeners that called in and expressed their disgust for the "Japs" getting involved in the American racing seen. They were concerned about there American dollars going over to Japanese racing teams. The constant in their responses seemed to be this is good ol' boy racing not wine sipping, cheese eating, Europian F1 junk!

To me the more teams, the more car companies, the quicker the advances in racing tech is goign to grow. I think Toyota will pour $$$ into their race teams, and by doing this they will help the whole sport out.

Well, considering the engines are all based on the same design spec, the frames are all based on the same design spec (and one source I think), and the sheet metal all has to be within a certain spec, its more a matter of a Toyota sticker and Toyota's money in Nascar than the actual automaker. I could really care less, but I'm bored by Nascar to begin with. More than anything, I don't like oval racing, and Nascar (and IRL) has pretty much eliminated road courses.

My feeling is it's a business like any other... They're going to do what makes money. Toyota is not going to hurt the growth of the sport. If anything, the controversy may help the growth.

Hell, I hope it helps take some of the 'bumpkin' out of the sport.

What is the difference between a guy installing a bumper at a Kentucky Toyota plant, or a Nissan plant in Tennesee, or Honda's Marysville, Ohio location, and a guy 300 miles north installing a Ford or GM bumper in Detroit?.............Nothing.

People are so ignorant......DO THEY KNOW THAT TOYOTA IS ONE OF THE ONLY AUTOMAKERS THAT ACTUALLY BUILD THEIR TRUCKS IN THE USA!!!!?!?!?!?!?

Crack a door on a Ford or a Chevy and you will see they are made in MEXICO and/or CANADA!!!!!!!

Toyota is made in the USA! Go figure....
