Wait till winter to buy!!! i picked up my 05' BB with 5220 miles for $20,300 out the door, but i had to fly to FL to get it and drive back. Luckly the dealer bought me a plane ticket and covered the gas on the way home.

I did not really like the S. It was yellow with a stock AP2 wing. Not really my taste, and the sale man was an ass!

the dealer was asking $22,999 for mine, if that helps. Always ask lower than ya think...

I would consider private party values as a good number. I got my 06 with 30K for $19900. Clean title, CarFax, etc. I think you should have no problem with that or lower on an '05. Bought mine in July '08. The economy is so crappy you should not have any trouble. You have to figure that the individual who traded in got nothing but wholesale. Haggling is my middle name. If you can walk away the first day try a few days later and see how bad they want to get rid of it if the numbers you get the first time are not in your favor. Trust me they won't sell it if they don't make at least something. Say they sell it for private party value to you they still make a couple of grand and everyone is happy. Including you. In todays market the S2000 is very impracticle for the average family so everything should be in your favor.

The car is like 4 hrs away so the going away and coming back tactic might not be applicable in this situation. I've heard it's good to have a woman with you too b/c if she's not happy then the salesmen know you're not going to seal the deal w/o the significant other.

i would go for the BB, tell them you need to stay close to $20,000 out the door, the sales guy will walk out and go talk to his sales manager blahblah, then come in with a counter offer. Counter offer back, get them as low as you can then tell them your going to think about it and your going to look around. Wait for a couple days and the salesman will call you asking if your still interested, say "yes but the price needs to be (insert ur price here). If they meet it go get it, if you feel uncomfortable at all WALK AWAY!
