Tail of the Dragon drive
Seeing as how we're nearing the end of the year and my girlfriend and I have yet to experience the Tail of the Dragon, she figured its time we try to make a trip out there.
She's inviting some Mazda 3 drivers as well as to our local autocross club, and I figured I'd extend the invite to the S2k drivers. It would more than likely just be a really long day trip, unless you felt like spending the night somewhere (I'm poor so I'll be driving back). Date would be SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3.
Being noobs at this, we dont have a great game plan, but I figured thats where the seasoned veterans of Tail of the Dragon could chime in. We were thinking of leaving the Greensboro area around 8:30am then having lunch when we got to the area (any suggestions?). Spend a few hours in the afternoon driving on the Dragon or other nice sections of road if the Dragon is too crowded/too slow, and then head back. Dinner could be had before we leave the mountains or somewhere on the way back (again, any suggestions?).
If you're interested, just post up so we can try to figure out how many we may have all together. Also, suggestions for lunch/dinner as well as other driving roads or things to do for a few hours out there would be very helpful.

There are going to be miata and mini cooper events going on that weekend at the dragon so you will have some company. My wife an I have talked about going up for the weekend but it still "up in the air" right now.

That's one heck of a day trip there and back - I might be interested, but I'll have to find somewhere to spend the night. It is hell getting old!

Hey guys, we're going to do a Fall McDragon that same weekend, so there will be a few more of us up there. I'll post a separate thread later today. Base of operations: Fontana Village.

I will be staying at fontana village nov 2-4. I plan on hanging out with the club roadster (miata) guys some, but they don't mind having their "big brothers" riding around with them. Anyone else decided if they are going yet?
