She's back
I finally have my S2000 back
It was about three weeks ago that I had my incident on the ice while driving to work (which is chronicled in this thread). I insisted that Apex Auto Body perform the repairs on my car since they did such an excellent job last time. (I swear they're going to start keeping extra AP2 bumpers on hand for me from now on!)
Well, after three long weeks of driving a rental base-model Galant, dealing with insurance, and discovering additional damage, I finally have a reason to smile again. The car has finally been restored back to its former glory. I'm absolutely blown away by the work that Apex Auto Body performed. The attention to detail, quality of work, and customer service is near perfect. The car looks like it just came out of the showroom. The best part: they were able to perform the work below the estimate cost, so I didn't even have to pay my deductible!
So, a quick list of the major components that were replaced:
- front bumper (replaced with OEM)
- left headlight
- front left tire (replaced in kind)
- both front and rear left rims (powdercoating was covered, luckily)
- left lower control arm (this part was completely sheared)
- left sway bar endlinks
- fender liners on both sides
Darrin ended up repainting the entire front end of the car and the end result is gorgeous. I'm beside myself with joy, in love with the car all over again. It was a difficult three weeks. Between visiting this site every day and seeing other S2Ks around town, I really missed mine. It was a tremendous feeling driving her back from the shop yesterday. For a minute or two, the low-slung seating position and tight quarters felt so strange since I had gotten used to the Galant. But in no time, it felt like home again. I took her on a nice, windy drive home, waiting a few minutes before turning on my stereo so I could just absorb the growl of my CAI while hitting VTEC. Pure heaven.
It feels good to have her back. Between autocross novice school this weekend in Danville, VIR Charity Laps later this month, and Cars N' Coffee and Wake The Dragon in April, Sasha and I have lots of catching up to do
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics... but it's all I had at the moment, haha.
