That tactic may work later this year when there are actually '03s on the lot, but I would be willing to bet that most dealers will simply hold their inventory until they have to sell them.
The other thing is that cash is king. You know, if you can arrange external financing or can use a home equity line of credit to cover the cost, then you might be able to go in and get a grand or so off. Again, I would be surprised, but it might happen.

I lived in Charlotte and looked long and hard for an S2k. I called almost every dealer in N and S Carolina. You will not find one at that price. You could get a nice used 2001 in that price range. 2 dealers I know have a standing offer to by any S2000 new from other dealers for 31,000.00. Most dealers don't even have one in stock. I do know the Hickory NC dealer had someone order a blue and they canceled. He called me this weekend trying to sell it to me at sticker. I have a car on order coming in next week at 32,000 even and I don't care for the dealer in Hickory so I told him I had no interest.
