Default Official thread for UNOFFICIAL McDragon non-event

The countdown for the 2nd annual McDragon is ON! Thought I'd start a new thread to track who's in so the madness can begin. Post here to let us know "fer sure!"

WHAT:McDragon "non-event" at Deal's Gap. This means nothing's planned, but expect plenty of great Dragon time, and some surprising impromptu "extras". Some things already mentioned are hiking, fishing or white-water rafting, with plenty of . The possibilities are endless!

WHEN: Weekend of June 24th, 25th & 26th.
Ron and I are going up Thursday night (23rd); join in whenever!

HOW TO HOOK UP: People arriving Thurs and Friday. We'll have the radios set the Channel 4 (no sub-channel), so as you see another S zip by....just sing out!
Cell phones don't normally work on the Dragon, but just in case, my mobile # is 704-661-0704.

WHERE TO STAY: Depends on what you're looking for!
1. Blue Waters Mountain Lodge - (Where the cool people will be staying! )
http://www.bluewatersmtnl.com/index.html

2. Campers! A couple of people are up for this. Check the original thread: (this idea instigated by Huskergirl, so beware! )
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=287434&st=0

3. Shacking up! (EDIT - Looks like this fell through! ) Popeye is (WAS!) organizing a bunch of scary northern-types who plan to stay at a "chateau" airgate found that sleeps 10 for cheap. Here's a link to their thread:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=287365&st=0

4. MO-tel: Here's a nice "middle of the road" option: Microtel Inn & Suites in Robbinsville, only a few miles down the road. Rates start there at $60/night. http://www.microtelrobbinsville.com/rates.html

In so far...:
smccoy - Staying at Blue Waters Lodge
Ron - Staying at Blue Waters Lodge
SC_Highlander (come on, come on....you can make it!)
Huskergirl - Staying at Blue Waters Lodge
JAHumphrey +1 - Staying at Blue Waters Lodge

Have you folks heard that it is Honda Hoot weekend?

Expecting 4-5,000 bikes!

And, the plans to rent the villa/condo/whatever it was fell thru.....

Probably most of the Ohio group is not heading down!

N.O.C (Nantahala Outdoor Center) has bikes and a pretty good trail you can ride. Its only about 40mins from the dragon at most. This is also where you can do some white water rafting. Tsali also has a really good trail to ride, but I'm not sure if you can rent bikes there or not.

This sounds exactly like the trip my G/F and I took in April. (white water rafting, biking, the dragon, casino). I hope you guys have fun!!

To keep my costs down, I'm willing to split a room/share a room with someone (preferrably someone I know) Since Sheila never replied to my PM's asking to sleep with her.

I'd like to know where we'll be staying and it would be awesome if we stayed as close together as possible. That weekend in Tapoco was awesome with breakfasts together, lunch and dinner. Ahhhh, that was great!!!

Raul,

I would be up for sharing a room.

I haven't made any reservations yet, but if you are interested, then I will see if there are any vacancies left at the 'Cool-peoples' lodge. That would be Friday June 24, and Saturday June 25.

I was thinking about just staying in Robbinsville, but if a room is available where more of the group is staying, then that would be even better.
