Airgate,

If you feel this is innappropiate for the board then feel free to delete this thread.

I just wanted to share a solution I use at home instead of the traditional phone company to my fellow S2000 users. It may be a good solution for some of you. I run Voice Over IP on all my phones and get more features than any phone company has. If you make a lot of long distance calls and don't want to pay a very low fixed rate then check out my review of Vonage.

Um, dean,

Did you know that airgate has a couple of tatoos? Oh his abdomen he has a huge "H" for Honda. Right under that (yea, just under the hairline) he has an "S" for Suncom. (or is it "short"?)

Time Warner Cable has the same technology although I don't think they are marketing it for home use. When I called their local office trying to get the CFO, they had just installed this new technology. The person who answered the phone bragged about how this technology was the greatest thing since sliced bread and went on about how many things it could do. When it finally came time for her to transfer me to the CFO, she tried several times and finally gave up. She gave me his direct number and asked me to call back.

I'm sure I experienced a lack of training rather than a lack of technology.

Or did I?

Anywho, I think this technology will become an industry standard for medium and big businesses. I'm not so sure it will replace cell phones though simply because cells are mobile. THAT'S what cells them (get it?).

Mybad,

I never look at VoIP as a replacement for the cell phone but rather a replacement for my landlines. Most cell phones don't hit the off peak hours until after 9:00pm.

I personally like the fact that I got to dump both Alltel and AT&T and don't get taxed on my VoIP line.

I personally just cut my cell phone plan down because myself and my wife made almost all our long distance calls through the cell phones before.

This is a great replacement for something like the MCI Neighboorhood which is roughly 60 dollars a month plus all the taxes.

Dean
