Default o2 sensor question

I ran over a huge rock yesterday, and it drug along the undercarriage of my car. Long story short, it broke my o2 sensor(in the cat. converter) It costs $280 from Honda, but I was wondering if that is my only option? If anyone could chime in on this topic, i would appreciate it!

Im looking for an o2 sensor myself, both of them to be exact. There are several different options on what you can do, try doing a search and research some of the things people have said. You can swap it out with a specific Civic sensor (as they appear to be the same but you have to wire it in), Bosch universal supposedly works fine (might have to wire it in as well). Personally speaking Im sketched out about putting a Civic sensor in this car (I dont understand how they can be identical, especially when Honda is charging nearly 300 a pop for ours, versus $37 for the Civic one off of a specific website.). As sensitive as our cars are and as necessary to get a proper o2 sensor to achieve full engine performance I want to make absolutely sure the ones I get are adequate for the ECU. Im starting with a phonecall to NAPA and Autozone first then Im making my assessment from there, I might opt for the Bosch at this point in time.

PS: Might want to inspect the cat itself as well, it could be damaged internally. Mines gone, i went for the test pipe which comes in the mail day before Xmas eve.

Do your homework before buying a different brand. If it doesn't work you'll be SOL.

Let us know what you end up doing.

After doing some research, I feel that buying the OEM sensor is the best thing to do. Most aftermarket or universal sensors will need some sort of modification in order to work. Although very expensive, I will have peace of mind. I was quoted like $280 from Honda, anyone know where I might be able to get it a little cheaper?

Try hardtopguy.com or PM hardtopguy on S2KI.com. His name is Jeff and he may be cheaper than your local dealer. Plus, they are BIG supporters of the site and our community.
