And I'm signed up for the novice school in Charlotte for this Saturday. Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone.

Excellent! Great to see the interest in us, CCR, Triad etc. it's all good! there are so many places around the state to autocross, all you have to do is pick a site, pay and go!

We are really excited about NCCAR. The current setup is narrow and not very long, maybe 150 x 500 ft, but we include a bit of the track to make a good 45 sec course. They are expanding that site to be 700 x 700, which would be stellar as the asphalt has very good grip and is exceptionally smooth.

Other locations for THSCC and Triad include the Old Sanford airport, which is a bit more central and may be closer to those around Charlotte.

In re HPDE, as noted above, VIR requires approved rollbars for all convertibles, for safety reasons.

It's my wife's birthday on Saturday, so I'll be with her instead of the Novice School....Sunday is a different matter. Star Specs on, ready for action!

I see you guys have a few track days at VIR...for the s2000 does it require an aftermarket rollbar? What if I have a hard top on the car?
I am planning on doing some NASA events at VMP this year...how do you like that site?

Thanks! I'll be at the Evo Super Shootout at ZMax in April. Looks like a cool format.

I like it. The surface isn't in top notch condition but it's not the worst either and the lot is pretty darn big so we tend to get fairly fast courses with the fastest guys running around 60 seconds. I far prefer that to 30-40 second courses. I run with VMSC here around Richmond and compared to running at RIR it's 10 times better. I'm hoping to at least try one event at NCCAR and Danville with you guys this year.

THSCC is a non-affiliated club , so join all you want! With that said, we work alongside SCCA to co-promote track day events, and we often cross-attend events put on by Triad Sportscar club (also unaffiliated with SCCA or NASA) as well as NCR and CCR (NC SCCA chapters in Wilmington and Charlotte area, respectively) events. Most clubs will give you reciprocity if you show a membership card...so that's nice. And then there is the annual NC Autocross championships, a joint event put on by THSCC, Triad, NCR, CCR and Highlands Sportscar club. Given the number of National level drivers in NC it's a good measuring stick to see how good you are (or aren't, as in my case)

Looks like 24 drivers signed up for Novice school...it's going to be a fun time!

While I have a helmet, some may wonder if there is any sort of helmet rental available at the events.

Loaner helmets should be available for free. If you have a helmet, make sure it is SA2005 rated or better.
