My store/office is Closing!
#12
Sorry to hear about the upheaval.
A similar thing just happened to my wife so I can directly feel the pain.
She was a loan consultant at Washington Mutual and they suddenly decided to close all of the mortgage offices in states where they did not have retail banks. No warning. No severance. No ongoing support.
Needless to say a lot of very unhappy campers. You can still try and close all of the loans you have in process for your customers but we are taking away your computer and all of your historical tools to do this. Oh, and most of the underwriters and processors have also been fired or quit.
My wife was courted by many companies and has landed at a new place, but the person who really loses is the customer. I feel sorry for the excited first time home buyer who has put his trust in the loan consultant and the company to get him/her a loan to get the house of their dreams only to be stuck in a bad place as the office is closed and things are "transitioned".
Best wishes to you.
Todd

Wow...sorry to hear this Raul. The commute doesn't sound that great either. But as you said, you are still employed. I wish you the best and hope you remain in New Bern so I can catch up with you on my next visit. See you at Fall Colors!

Tough luck Raul!
That is one of the reasons I had gone into business by myself. No one can fire you :-) (Next time I'll make sure there are no partners or that I own 51%!)
As for a commuter car, you can't go past the Insight. 75 miles is the perfect commute for it. The guy who bought mine commutes from Winston-Salem to exit 124 (I forget the town name) on I85 and is now getting 72MPG (I got this from the Insight forum).
An MY2000 will run you 9k or less. You really can't beat the bang for the buck. Also, the tires tend to last a 'paltry' 70k miles... just a wincey bit more than the S02s really.. :-)

We've already spoke on the phone...so you know how I feel about this.
Now a selfish question ...Is this transition going to affect DragonBall '04?
I'll count on your answer being "No." And you can count on me offering you any help you need to see that DB '04 goes on without a hitch .

Dave, HELL NO! This would NEVER effect DragonBall Run 4. And if it did, well, let's just say it would'nt!
Once this whole *nightmare* ends, I'll be more relaxed in my new office in J'ville. Until then, I'm busy and running around. I already made the address change from my office to my house for registrations, so I would imagine everything else is fine.
T-shirts are being *tweeked* and the order will be placed by the 28th. Alcoa is set. Tapoco is done (letter sent and all). Only missing item is with the magnets, but that should not be an issue.

Richard, sorry about this afternoon. I can't begin to describe my days right now. Busy just won't do. It's hectic. With customers, being short staffed, issues with inventory (as they are not sending ANYTHING ELSE) and add the store closing with PR nightmares and all. It's bad. But I'll survive.
You won't imagine what my 2nd car may be? And no, it's not an ELEMENT!

Sorry to hear about the whole thing. Good news is you're getting another car though . If I may make a suggestion, how about a TSX? Then again as a second car it might be a little pricey. It'll definitly be a fun commute though .,

Raul,
This sucks! One thing for certain is you can never understand these corporate decisions.
I worked for an apparel company that moved two divisions to Winston-Salem in 1993. I was told that between cost of living adjustments, relocation expenses, new office space etc. it cost about $40,000 per relocated employee. Within one year they merged these two divisions and elimnated something like 80 positions. I was one of those victims but in my case I received a very generous severence package plus outplacement consulting and assistance. Go figure... Spend all that on relocation then spend a bunch more on severance within 12 months?
For me it worked out great. I was only out of work for one month so I put a considerable amount of $ into my bank account from that severance $
Things will work out good. Maybe you can move to Maryville, TN and professionally promote Dragon Events!
