Default My S is Sick...she got the Shakes...

During the DragonBall Run event...my baby came down with the shakes...literally.

It started on Friday and we believed it was a wheel weight that slung off the car...so I drove it over to Alcoa and visited the friendly folks at Airport Honda. An hour or so later...and $42 lighter...the vibration remained.

Damn...

So, I discussed it with some experts...SC_Highlander and Hardtopguy. Both thought about it and then surmised it could be the rear CV joints...the shake came during acceleration...and when you let off the gas...it stopped. No noise, grinding or anything...just the shaking.

I continued to enjoy the weekend and figured it would do one of two things... 1) Go away (yeah...I'm that lucky) or 2) Self destruct.

Well...neither happened...so I guess I did luck out. When we returned I took her straight to my local dealer. It took 'em a day or so to diagnose...treatment was:
  • Two new rear axles
  • Two new Hubs
  • New wheel bearings
Add to that my already ordered rotors and pads...I'm looking at over $2k in parts alone.

But hey...here comes Hardtopguy to the rescue and he links me up with a parts guy who is shipping 2 axles at only $90 a piece versus the $600 Honda price. Thanks Jeff...that alone saves me a GRAND! You are awesome!

And get this (and I totally understand where he's coming from)...the tech tells me he is 97% sure that THIS repair will solve the issue!

So...where are we now...UP IN THE AIR! Literally...lucky thing (again, I guess) is that the tech had to go to Atlanta for training and so my S2000 got to float in the air until he returns (this coming Monday). This also allowed time for all the parts to arrive...so hopefully...I should get my BABY back by the middle of next week...

Here are some pics I snapped at her expense...she's so dirty too...I didn't even wash her after DBR6.

Sorry to hear that. Glad you got some parts coming in with a huge savings. I know how that feels when I got water in my engine and I thought she was toast. I loved the first run after I get her back, its a great thing.

Guess WTD next year will be a fun trip huh! WOOT

Damn...that's right...I meant to mention you both for helping. Seriously.

No...I have not seen Jody...I don't think he's at the Honda store... I'm pretty sure I would have seen him...with as much as I have visited lately.

The tech's name is Jason.

Not sure...I think I kinda-sorta-maybe (yeah...that sure) that he's at the Chevy side of Coastal Carolina...it's the *same* dealer - owner wise...not sure.
