Default Moving to the Charlotte area

hey y'all!
I'm moving your way from Ft Worth/Dallas, Texas area. My company has a position that I'm transfering to in a few weeks. Work will be at the Stanly County Airport, close to Albemarle, NC (abt 40mi NE from downtown Charlotte)
Needless to say I'm VERY excited!

I've been out to the last 2 spring Dragon events and have met a few of you here in this forum (RedCelica, batguano, Saki GT) you'll probably remember my S as the GPW AP1 with red wheels. after looking through a few other threads on here its great to see the friendlyness of this forum seems to match up to the North Texas forum.

the only problem I'm running in to is finding a sutible place to rent close to work. I'd like to rent close-ish to work for the first 6mo-year I'm there while i get a feel for the area but am having a helluva time finding a place with a garage. Which is a MUST. Not just for the S but for all of the garagey stuff like tool box and other misc stuff. Whats up with all the carports and plain driveways?? Thankfully I'll have a couple weeks of hotel paid for while i look for something, but if anyone has leads on a place east of the Charlotte area, please let me know!

Albermarle is out there. You'll be somewhat close to a few if us. Give it another few days. I'm sure they'll build a few dozen houses you can rent lol.

Really though, you just have to look. I might even recommend looking closer to university area as that brings you closer to a more populated area (aka more housing/rentals)

I grew up near Albemarle. LOL. Small world, and let us know when you get here and settled.

While I haven't been to Albermarle specifically, my time here in Charlotte has shown that the new construction etc. is mostly limited to the beltway around Charlotte. Places near UNCC or Huntersville/Concord or Mint Hill/Matthews would be a better bet for something like what you're looking for.

thanks everybody! A.J., love the Soundgarden avatar

I am definitely seeing places in the Concord, Kannapolis area i like. I just dont know if i want a 25mi + commute just yet, though I imagine I'd be heading the opposite direction of any major traffic. i'll probably make Albemarle work for 6 months get a feel for things then make a more permanent descion. Company is flying me out this weekend to let me scout a little and see where I'll be working. Hope to check some leads too.

another fun thing about moving to NC: my S gets to be back near its original stomping grounds. From a carfax report it looks like it spent the first 10 years of life around the Greensboro area. Till I went out and snatched it up!

Are you coming to the Charlotte cars and coffee or the Priority Honda meet this Saturday? Pro tip: Your answer should be yes! LOL.
