The S may not be the right platform for drag racing but it's your car and as long as you understand things will break and cost you money, I say have fun, but be careful on how you decide to launch the car or you will be trailoring it home.
I am building mine to drag it occasionally. I know things are going to break but I will have fun doing it. I plan to suprise a lot people when I get this thing on the track, hope fully in a good way. It better not break down on the first run.

I bought my first S for a fun daily driver. I ended up AutoXing it a lot and running a couple track days with it. I still took it to the 1/4 mile twice just to see what I could get out of it. Wanting to go hang out at the drag strip every once in a while doesn't mean you bought the car for the wrong reasons.
To the OP, if you're wondering what I got out of mine at the strip.. I got a 13.87@102 and 2 shot axles. Have fun, but don't have too much fun unless you're willing to spend a little money fixing.

OP, there will always be people who are negative on what you want to do, no matter what it is. if you want to drag your car, do it. it sounds like you know what the car was built for, so it's your call.
i understand that the car was built to be fun to drive, and that it's not designed from the factory to go screaming down the drag strip; does this mean that i can't appreciate a car that can run the quarter in 10.4? just because my personal car was designed for the twisties, does that mean i can't drool over a top fuel dragster with 8000 hp?
loosen up people; honestly, i think i'd rather socialize with 'car' people than 's2k' people sometimes
oddly enough, i drive by the mooresville dragstrip probably 2 or 3 times a week, and i've never been there. i'll have to remedy that sometime.
