Usually around dark in the parking lot behind the Sonic/Rush's. Friday nights usually draw a fair amount of cars too, but a LOT more high school kids so I'd stick to Saturday 
The cops are cool, but they will be there. At least one marked CPD and usually an unmarked car as well. They just sit and watch, talk on the phone/eat/do whatever cops do in their cars. The parking lot "closes" at 11, and they will usually run everyone out around that time.
Would anyone be interested in a dyno day? I can talk to Travis at Carolina Chassis Dyno and set one up here in the Columbia area. Of course I'd like to do this after I get my S
