Well I guess taking the turbo S on a road trip wasn't one of my better ideas.

So can anyone recommend a traffic attorney in the Jackson, NC area? I don't want to say much about the citation other than it is apparently just for speeding, but comes w/ a mandatory court appearance

Thanks,
JC

That is the county seat for Northhampton County. Thats the only place I ever got speeding ticket. You would be better off getting an attorney in Jackson or Weldon. They would have more pull.

Going over 75 huh? I can't help, but try the yellow pages and start calling lawyers local to the court system - they all know each other and can point you to someone willing to represent you for a ticket (no money in traffic law, you know). You should be able to get a non-moving violation for under $500 - all the county really wants is money.

Thanks guys. I'm investigating a couple adjucation options that don't requiere an attorney, but if none of that pans out, will be looking for one in the area.

btw, are the troopers in NC using some new sort of radar? The trooper claimed to have clocked me, but my radar detector didn't even chirp and the number he claimed was exactly 1 mph over a certain limit that puts me in the next points bracket. I know i should've asked to see the reading on the gun, but given my modifications, didn't want to do anything to provoke him into taking a closer look at the car.

they use instant on radar now, you are lucky if your detector picks it up

It seems that even town cops and sherriffs all have instant-on radar nowadays (at least it seems like that in my area anyways) I even got instant-on zapped by a State Trooper on a motorcyle driving towards me the other day

What I don't understand though is that my detector never went off at all. In the past when I've got it w/ instant-on, the detector barks even if it's already too late at that point.

I have had a ticket before where my detector did not go off. I even asked to see the radar gun display because I did not believe he got my by radar but sure enough it read what he wrote me up for.

I don't know any Jackson area traffic lawyers, but this may be useful anyway. I not sure if NC still does this but there used to be a thing called a "prayer for judgement continued".

I think the way it worked was if you talked with the DA about your ticket before your court date and he agreed, you were on probation for the next 2 yrs. If you didn't get another traffic ticket within that time it didn't count against you. If you don't live in NC that shouldn't be to hard.
