Congratulations... Don't let that scape get ya down, like Bryan said we all do it (despite what Garrett may lead you to believe )

Question

OK, will try to get some pics up soon. The scrape is a bruised ego thing. I did not even get home with it before the scrape.

Hey, does anyone have a safe method of removing the dealer stick-ons? This one looks like a tape cutout (i.e. not on a clear backing) and it is really struck.

Saki GT -- I don't know when that last zero will appear. 600 miles? 600 posts to s2ki.com?

One more question, and excuse me for opening this can of worms.

How many miles do you need to ring up before VTECing the engine? The owner's manual says keep it under 5500 rpm (sub-VTEC) for 600 miles. A lot of the posts here seem to think many more miles are necessary.

Knowing Honda's conservative approach (in a past life I worked on OEM tire development projects with them), I find it hard to believe that if the engine were not ready to go at 600 miles, they would so indicate to the owner.

I've been VTEC'ing daily since mile 601. It's 68k miles later and she's still going strong.

They may be on there pretty good, but a finger nail and some patience should do the trick. The longer you wait, the more it will stick, so get that sticker off!

For Mulder, here is the '06 interior.

The camera reads the red on the seats a bit more brilliant than it really is. Look closely, you will see that it is a bit more subdued than the door panels. The black on the seats is more like a very dark charcoal. Compare them to the black plastic on the roll bars. The leather itself is a full grain with lots of detail and it feels very thick. Note that the black starts much further down on the seat and the headrests are black and solid. With the rollbar speakers, there is no need for the screened portion.

Overall it is more subdued than the '05 red-black. I am posting a photo of that interior from Honda's website. I am using their photo solely for information purposes, as Honda does not show the '06 red-black on their website.

The rollbar speakers are much better than my first impression of them. Wit the top down today, I could really enjoy my CD's while going up Caesar's Head (below 5k rpm of course), and coming back down on Highway 178. Even at 65 mph on Highway 11, you can still hear well.

On the VSA -- it was really greasy going up Caesar's Head today. Several times when I tried to stomp the throttle too early in a turn the little "VSA" light flashed on the dash. I could not feel it working. However, after 22 years of front-drive cars, I am really glad it is there. And, the OFF switch is just within reach if you feel lucky.

I really don't know the '05 at all, except for 4 test drives, so this is not an "'06 is better" post, just my own impressions of a car that I will enjoy for many years.

Edit: have to get around to joining before I can post -- soon
