So, it looks like Isabel continues to track West, towards our shores. They don't predict much of a NorthEasterly movement, so having her track out into Sea is not a chance. Landfall is her goal.
Well, let's hope that's not Landfall (the Country Club) in Wilmington.
I was interviewed on the news Friday about the preparations SunCom is making for this Hurricane. Just imagine, Isabel was still pretty far away then. Now, it's no wonder the media is making a racket about her.

Talk about local TV News coverage, my wife works for the ABC affiliate here. There is a running joke around the office about Meteorologists/Weatherman who absolutely LIVE for this sort of thing.

I've been through a couple of tornadoes but not a hurricane! We always kept on hand an extra tank for the gas grill. If your power is gone and your freezer starts to thaw then you can grill your food.
Powdered milk is always good. I don't know why the media always advises people to stock up on Milk. Milk spoils so quickly.
Lastly, fill your tanks for the cars. Even if you don't leave, the lost power will not let the pumps work.

When Fran hit in '96 I was out in the big red truck all night during the storm cutting up fallen trees to clear the roads literally as they fell Yes it was quite a rush. Then I spent the next 3 days directing traffic in 12hr shifts because the power was still out. Yes that was boring as heck. I really haven't thought about this one much. Seems like with all the natural disasters and terrorists attacks and everything else us emergency people have become somewhat de-sensitized. The procedures are established and we practice them ad nauseum. My parents and grandparents have got their stuff together too. So everybody is ready as usual.

do you still serve on any of the fire stations here in the fayetteville area? im guessing its station 10 westarea by the pic
Sta. 10 and I parted ways last month. I have since gone back to Sta. 3 in Harnett County whom I was with before I went to work at Westarea. Switching back and forth is quite common for firefighters in this area for some reason. It is mostly due to polictics. I have worked in all fields of emergency service, and although politics are pervasive in EMS and law enforcement, the fire service is the absolute most political organization I have ever been associated with.
It is a shame that people's lives have to be put in jeopardy because this is one of those amazing storms that I find to be so very cool. I'm like a closet meteorologist and I love this stuff, Isabel is an amazing storm, sorry you guys might be in her track! And clearly, if she remains as a category 5, get out of her way!!!

Ohh, it is gonna be so much fun for me late Thursday night when I leave for Baltimore from Greenville,SC. I see that is going to be wet and wild. Hmm, makes me wonder if I should bring my scuba gear for safety reasons Of all freaking days, I have to be in Baltimore for confirmation since I am a sponser to one of my cousins.
