It sucks...but you gotta remember it is a rag top and a wear item...just drive TOP DOWN all the time and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Seriously - I know it sucks...but if Honda can't do anything for you, try patching it from a pro at a convertible/upholstery shop.

Lots of guys have had success with getting the top replaced this way. I just hope I have the same luck.

If you get your top replaced :

1) Make sure they check the frame and smooth down any rough edges. If they don't then all you will have is new holes in the same places sometime later
2) Additionally add some patches to where the originally holes were. As Airgate mentioned any good convertible top /upholstery shop can do if you like very cheaply.

I had my top replaced 3 years ago and notice some wear on the exact same spots within a year. I had some patches added and 2 years later everything is still fine.

Honda replaced mine in January -- the top was only a year old.

I will definitely find some way to reinforce/protect that area

I'm starting to see some fraying in my top from the inside. I'll probably try cushioning the area with a thin strip of Gorilla tape.

Resurrected this thread cause today, I found tears in my top. I didn't even bother with the Gorilla tape. Hope Honda takes car of this for me.

Yflyer, did you go to Breakaway Honda to have your top fixed?

I went to Hendrick in Easley, that's where I bought my car. The service manager is Tom Lapointe.

Alright, I finally called in to Honda Care today and submitted my claim. The representative I spoke to was friendly and understanding. He was fully aware of the problem and has dealt with calls like mine before. He also said he doesn't know why they haven't put out a recall on the top either. Go figure.

I'm taking my car in to Honda later on today, per Honda Care's direction to see the dealers assessment.

Wish me luck!
