HELP...Tape Adhesive Removal
#11
I have to agree with Kevin on this. Berlina Black is the best color!!
Back to Lees problem. When I removed all of my emblems, I used WD40. It won't hurt the paint at all and it works great. Most people have some lying around the garage already so it may save you some money on buying something else. I don't think I would use a heat gun though. It could actually make the adhesive harder to remove because it melts it really sticks onto the paint. Just let the WD40 sit on the adhesive for at least 15-30 minutes and patiently remove the adhesive, continuing to apply more WD as it dries. I heard you talking about doing this at the Raleigh meet. I hope it works out for you!

I just finished and I did use Goo Gone.
It took a lot of patience and several expressions of displeasure but it worked. One cannot do the job without fingernails.
I wiped the are clean with detailer and put a coat of Zaino on.It looks fine except two dull areas in the paint near the center. I'm going to try some Hand Glaze or compound when I catch my breath.
Thanks for all the input guys.

Photos?!
You can see one of the spots. There is another nearby that didn't show up.
Here is a view of the whole car. I think it really looks better without the tape.
I tried hand glaze and compound but it looks like the scuffs are down into the paint.
Guess I'll just get used to it. Not worth having it painted as that might not match.

Hey Lee, we might need to hit that with the porter cable or a rotary. I would bet you good money that Karl and I could work on that and get it ALLOT better. I am not sure if he is coming out to the Sept 5th meet but if he is and there is a power source he would give it a good shot. If you can take some better photos and post them up or PM him lets see what we can do.

I think a PC will likely fix that up! If we can't arrange it at the meet, we can meet up and use mine, Lee. I have a feeling he Zaino PC Fusion will take that out, but I also have stronger compounds if required...
