rlaifat, you are a wise man!

Mine has 4 backing plates on each side. They were formed and cut to fit the angles and shapes of the unit body construction in the locations where they are placed to form the largest footprint possible. They were then all welded into position, the bar welded to the plates, and then 5 huge bolts per plate sent through the frame to pull the plates together. It is sort of like the DeGrappa X-brace, it is too darn bad it is under the car and you can't see them.

Thanks for the compliment, I'm very proud of the look.

Just a note that the Elda bar has very large backing plates, all the right angles, and SCCA Solo 1 approved.
Triple-H, you still have the cleanest best looking Spa, not overdone.
Oh Rylan, get rid of that red passenger seat. It's bad luck. Look what happened to my car when I borrowed it at Sears, and your car at Pahrump!

Problem solved!

Talked with VIR track director a few minutes ago. To sum it up, she stated I needed something to Solo 1 spec with a diagonal driver brace. They use the simple "broom-stick" test to approve clearance. Looks like the Elda is the choice!

Krazik - Do you plan to run a seatback brace on that Kirkey? It was my understanding that they required one. Also, how do you like the seat with only the rib wings? I considered this route but a lot of people of people advised me against it. Input appreciated.

Thanks man, too bad you can never see the bar when I'm at the track though...

You've received some very good advice, and I'll just add that I also urge you to install improved rollover protection in the S2000 if you're going to take it out on the track. The Elda bar is very well designed as is the Bitterman Rollbar. The Elda bar is less intrusive cosmetically since the Bitterman rollbar mounts to the same location as the stock roll hoops.

Jeg.com sells a roll bar bracket for aluminum seats. I have enclosed a photo of mine. Elda bar has a square cross bar and I welded the tabs for the seat bracket to this bar. Worked great.
Note this seat is built by Ultrashieldrace.com for Spec Miata's. It has no upper wings just a wrap around design that fits well in our narrow cockpit. This is the eighteen inch wide model. This particular seat is custom sized about four inches taller than the stock version because I am 6'5" tall. Very well made seat and reasonable. The seat is bolted to the floor instead of mounts to keep me as low as possible.

todcp - it was your original post about your set-up that got me thinking about the alu. seat. Looks great!
