Get together for Charlotte S2000 owners
It would really great if our fellow S 2000 owners in the Charlotte area could get together in this area since I see a lot of S2000's around here. Anyone in Mecklenburg and the surrounding North and South Carolina counties are urged to respond.
While going to gatherings for the Carolinas is fun, even in Northern Virginia (that's close), some of us don't have time to drive 7 hours (legally) each way to meet fellow owners in areas as far away as Maryland and Pennsylvania. Why aren't we focusing on our local groups first, such as people in the Charlotte area and for those living elsewhere, such as Raleigh, people living in that area, etc.
Since I am reasonably new, I have not figured out whether my messages are getting out there (this web site is very complicated to me) or whether I am accessing responses from you.
Bottom line, if any of you would like to set up an event - perhaps a dinner cruise or having as bite to eat and then going to the Charlotte summer concert at South Park, etc, please respond to the forum as well as my regular e mail address at john2000s@aol.com.
By the way, I see a gray S2000 on 485 from 49 in the evening and am curious as to who you are. I don't generally drive my S 2000 to work because I am still too paranoid to risk having someone in a SUV dent my doors in the parking lot at work, so if someone in a gold Ford Ranger waves, it's me. Also saw a young lady driving her blue S 2000 on Ballentyne parkway by Lowes on Saturday. I was on my motor cycle driving the other way. Would also be interested in knowing who you are.
Thanks, looking forward to your thoughts and responses.

Sounds like a good idea. We're overdue for a gathering anyway. I like the idea of a Sunday afternoon and then a Pops concert (Think how cool the parking lot would look!) How about tentatively Sunday, June 30th? (Same day as the VA meet).

John,
I am not sure if I am the person you are referring to in you post. I live in the University area and drive 485/49 often. As far as getting together for an evening drive or something, that would be great.
I have made plans to attend the June 30th venture, but am not sure at this point in time I will be able to make the drive. Going up 6 hours, spending the day and coming back, not sure if I would be able to wake up the next day to get to work. So, if you all would like to get together, that would be alright.

Sunday's are great for me.....pretty much my only 'real' day off.
The last 'official' Charlotte meet was a few weeks before I got my S2000 so I'm interested in putting faces with names.
I too will not be attending the Virginia event. I will be getting my post-Le Mans racing fix on watching the Mid-Ohio ALMS on the 30th, but it should be done in plenty of time for any potential meets.

Sorry! Ron's post, above was actually me....I was using his laptop and forgot to login.
Anyway...turns out Sunday 6/30 won't work for me (family out of town thing), but let's get some feedback on interest and best times. I see a couple options:
1. A weekend gathering; Sat or Sunday afternoon
(Maybe Sunday, 7/14?) - could involve lunch and a drive
2. After-hours gathering during the week (starting 5:30-6:00ish)
(We've done one at Southend Brewery and one at S2klisa's house) - not much time for a drive, but good conversation and admiring our cars, comparing mods, etc. Very relaxed. For this type, what evening works best? (I vote for a Wed or Thurs!) We could look at one night next week (week of 6/23) or 2nd week in July (week of 7/7).
Thoughts? Post your feedback here and ideas here.

I'm cool with a weekend or weekday. I will be unavailable June 29-July5, but otherwise I should be able to make it. I work 9-6, so I'll have to meet you a bit late if we do 5:30-6pm I work down near Arrowwood and I-77, so anything within 15-20min of there should be fine for me.

Yeah, it is about time. We could also set up a trip to Victory Lanes Karting near the 77/85 interchange. It's a hell of a lot of fun. I'm up for something downtown or in the southpark area anytime. Pops in the park would be great!

I am definitely in the mood for a Charlotte get together sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. Driving to Va. from Charlotte does NOT interest me. BTW I just got back from V.I.R. (virginia international raceway) last Friday. Had a BALL driving around the track. Would love to discuss track experiences with any and all who have done it. Let's get together soon!!!
