The top actually stayed down for most of the beginning of the trip, but as we got further out west and up into the higher elevations, it had to be kept up as it was a bit chilly...but it did stay down the whole way up and back down Pikes Peak...

We spent approximately...

$1500 on gas

$1200 on hotels and KOAs (keep in mind that 9 days of the trip were spent in WA state with John's parents, another 2 nights in AL with family and 1 night in Chicago with Huskergirl and Huskerhubby)

$250 or so spent on entrance fees into the National Parks and Monuments (got a couple of entrance fees for free since John was active military at the time )

...and lastly you would have to factor in prices for snacks and food, etc...you tend not to eat too much while you are traveling due to the fact that you are not as active and don't burn as many calories as you are sitting in the car.

The only other items you need to factor in are oil changes, blown tires, tolls, etc...

No matter how much it costs to do this trip, it is well worth it and we would definitely do it again.
