the DA should just knock it down to 9 over.
in Raleigh, you basically stand in a DMV type line and go by a kiosk desk. they offer you a plea or a scheduled court time.
take 9 over. they might also give you PJC, just make sure you dont get another ticket

TAKE THE PLEA! i know things may be diff in NC, but ive got friends on all sides of law enforcement down here in SC (state, city, county) and there is NO WAY to fight it. If they say they clocked you at XXmph and you have no evidence to prove otherwise, its their word against yours, and they ALWAYS win. If they say do you plead guilty, say yes, and theyll more than likely knock your fine down.

what was the fine on the ticket if you dont mind me asking?

If you can negotiate it down to a 9 over it will not affect your insurance. Otherwise if you currently have a clean record and you can't get the 9 over ask for a PJC. Then just don't get caught speeding for the next 3 years.

Edit: This is assuming you are in NC. I have no idea for SC.

Good advice has been given here...

Let us know how it goes.

I'll also be in court next week for my accident with the Insight. I got cited for "Failure to maintain lane control." Much better than "Careless and Wreckless."

I ordered my driving record from the DMV and I have it ready to show to the DA on my court date. We hope that they'll dismiss the charge.

techinally check with your insurance 1 9 under is ok 2 under 9 they will start charging. and look at the ticket to see if it was r or p. r means he got you on radar. p means he followed u at speeds, you can get a lawyer to get it dropped or really reduced. i think there is an a too for aproximate its on your ticket. this one wont hold up in court and the da usually drops it
