Well, Bear came by my place today visiting from VA Beach and I spent a little quality time with his AP2 dash . Close up dash pics have been updated in the original post to this thread.

Obviously, this mod is available for folks with AP1s or AP2s

Thanks Bill!

I used to do this for the cougar crowd. I'd swap out all the leds on the door/window switches for colored ones, and use color filters for the LCD screens.

I havnt been brave enough to tackle the s2000 yet so props to you! Nice work.

Its a shame that the white one looks more tan. Seems like the led way is the only method to get white to really show well.

BearNVa has been helping me with some R&D using his AP2. By replacing the incandescent digital dash bulbs with LEDs along with the color filters & diffusers, I can now offer a dash color change option that is visible day or night.

Bill should be posting some pics in the Mid-A thread when he gets an opportunity. I'll update this thread then.

I'll need to order more LEDs to fulfill interest. But order I will, provided interest is firm .

Here's a pic of Bill's white digital dash with replacement LED lighting solution behind the filter/diffusers . Bill should be providing me another pic shortly that includes him having turned on the digital dash area's number/text lighting. They come on with the first click of the regular parking/running lights switch .

As of 08/23/09, I have since worked out a LED bulb replacement strategy for the stock incandescent bulbs. Replacing digital dash stock incandescent bulbs with LEDs makes the digital dash visible during the day, top-down ..and obviously visible at night / top-up . The dash kit of course will differ then based on whether you are only interested in the filter/diffusers only...or if you also want LEDs to replace stock incandescent bulbs.
