Colored Dash?
[this post updated on 08/24/09...]
Red...?
White...?
Blue...?
or perhaps...
a freaky Green...?
Over the years I've had folks comment on my blue dash. And I've finally gotten around to purchasing necessary supplies to offer this to others that might be interested.
What you see pictured above is NOT an LED, etc. solution. This color dash solution does NOT require rewiring your dash, no change of bulbs either. Its effect is dramatic at night, although most would agree, regardless of the color, it is not highly visible during daylight, top-down driving. I've always considered this point a very small trade-off for an otherwise great looking presentation myself. But that's just me . And again, its not that you *can't* see it in the daylight...don't get me wrong...its just that its not nearly as bright as OEM in full daylight. But at night?...or driving with the top up?...OMG, it is an amazingly lovely mod
However, it does require disassembling your dash, replacing the OEM plastic filter with your desired color within the digital dash, and then reassembling everything again. Takes ~ 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.
Interested?

PS. As of 08/23/09, I *have* worked out a LED bulb replacement strategy for the stock incandescent bulbs. Replacing digital dash stock incandescent bulbs with LEDs makes the digital dash visible during the day, top-down ..and obviously visible at night / top-up . The dash kit of course will differ then based on whether you are interested in the filter/diffusers only...or if you want the filter/diffusers AND LEDs to replace stock incandescent bulbs. Folks interested in my color filter dash mod might additionally consider checking out >> this thread << (and within it, a separately linked thread by Kertef). These threads outline steps to replace [most of] the surrounding bulbs that light up our various dash buttons, etc...so you could closely color-match to this color filter mod .
If interested, I'd imagine you might want to look into ordering [your desired general color-match] LEDs based on the information in those threads. Wait for them to arrive...then bring them with you when you arrange time with me. I'd have your dash apart already, then you could replace your surrounding bulbs with your new LEDs while I do your digital dash color filter mod .
Just food for thought...
