Default Clemson Hotel Help

I'm planning a mini vacation combining some good driving, golf and visiting family. Your sticky section on twisty roads has been a great help. After progressing south thru the northwest portion of N. Carolina, I'm planning on driving RT 28 into Clemson. I thought this would be a good place for an overnight, take in some local culture, and a little golf.

Anyway, as the topic states, any ideas on a decent hotel. As I get older, my priorities are for a safe place for the S, and a reasonable distance to good food/drink, over $$.

I already tried the Universitiy's Martin Inn, and they are booked. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I will be in town on a Friday night, and not on a football weekend.

Also, it'd be great to hang with some of the locals. Of course I buy the first or two.

I would recommend probably the Hampton Inn. Most places around here should be pretty safe. The Martin Inn would be ideal. We have home games every week in September so finding any place will be tough. I recommend trying to play the Walker Course. Best public course around as far as shape goes. The turf science guys have done well with this one even with the drought. Don't recommend walking it though. The name is misleading.

I'd be up for beer, golf, or a drive.

Thanks. I was looking at the Hampton. Saw good reviews on the Comfort inn also. Just wasn't sure where.

I am traveling down October, so other than the Martin Inn, looks like good availabiltiy. Staying at the Martin and playing Clemson course was my first choice. I'll be staying friday nite and playing on a saturday, and was going to use the hotel to get a tee time at Walker.

Sounds great. Looks like Friday Oct 10th for arrival, dinner/beer. Saturday morning for golf. I'm heading to Salisbury NC after that for family visit. Was going to drive north and avoid taking freeways. So anyone is welcome to join that also.

Anyone else interested in the above just let me know

I recommend the Martin inn. I stayed there for a wedding and it was better than most.

If you don't mind driving to Greenville, you could stay in the Embassy Suites.

Thanks ClemsonF4i

Tried the Martin first and they are booked both the friday and saturday that would work for me.

Thought about Greenville, but kinda want to see if I can play Clemson golf course and didn't want to back track.

If you have a second choice I'd appreciate it, if not thanks for the help

I can tell you where I would not stay. Days inn, Clemson motel or the Lake Hartwell inn. The Ramada is average. Sorry but I know nothing about the Comfort inn, Sleep inn or Hampton inn.

I'm staying at the Clemson Outdoor Lab Suites this weekend. I will let you know how they are.

Outdoor Lab Suites? I used to volunteer there are these just cabins? If so that would definately be a "safe" place for the S.
