I get my big bottle of Mobil 1 at Walmart for around $23.00.

I am actually changing from Mobile 1 10W30 to Castrol 10W30 syn. I burned more Mobile 1 then I would have liked, possibly due to my VTEC

I have read a bit amount of forum posts about how Mobile 1 burns more then others like valvoline, royal purple, and castrol when it comes to the S2K. I am going to try it out see what it does, it may be the same. Oil is such a long conversation but I went with the majority on this one.

For the tranny I went with MTF but I heard the GMSMFM is pretty good, and I used Mobile 1 for the rear.

One thing I have noticed is that Autozone, and advance have gone up on their prices. Mobile 1 quart is now the same as royal purple $7.99 quart. Their 5 quart jugs are still decent but walmart was only $24 for 5 quarts syn. Basically if it is liquid I am going to walmart first
How much oil do you burn? My old AP1 burned about half a quart per 1000 miles, no matter what oil I had in it - it was just normal for that car. None of my AP2s have ever burned a drop that I can recall....

I burn about 1/2 quart every oil change but I have had the car only since december so its hard to tell. I imagine all oils will burn the same but heck they say mobile 1 burns more so I thought I would give it a try to go with castrol.

1/2 quart is nothing compared to my 98 Prelude that burned half a quart every 2-3 weeks.

BTW VTEC preludes burn oil like its going out of style I have asked 3 owners of the same model.

VTEC seems to contribute to the oil burning a lil

I'll be interested to hear the results! I'm actually considering switching back to dyno oil - the synths smooth out the VTEC transition so much it is hard to tell when it kicks in...

I put 100,000 miles on Mobil 1 with no mechanical problems but I was in the 1qt per 1000 mile club. I just switched to Castrol EDGE about 500 miles ago in hopes of extending oil change intervals and reduce the number of additional qts.

As for mtf I use Honda MTF wig Good luck and run mobil1 in the different because it's easy to get a hold of.

Both of my cars burn more oil when running Mobile 1 10w30. I run Catrol Syntec in both of them now, and do not use much at all. I have a 2.2L in my '02 and the stock 2L in my racecar.

In the transmissions, I run Honda MTF. The street car uses the Lubrication Engineer's product available from hardtopguy.com (LE607 is the old part, LE1605 is the new stuff). The racecar uses Carbonetics 85w90 diff fluid due to the Carbonetics LSD.
