Default CEL #P0304

Twice this has set off the CEL now...
Looking for advice, suggestions, solutions please...

It hasn't missed or stumbled through VTEC at all yet, but the idle is noticably more rough and not smooth as it was a few days ago...

I've reset the ECU by pulling the back up fuse for a lil bit and clearing the CEL, but it still isn't idling right and will probably trip the CEL again...

Time for new plugs perhaps? Car has 70,5xx miles as of now and it's a MY01...

Thanks folks

Definately time for new plugs. While you're at it, check the compression. It wouldn't hurt to remove the valve cover and look for scoring, retainer cracks, etc.

Anytime the #4 cylinder has a problem you need to pay special attention.

Could be an injector. I would check the plugs too. You could swap plugs in 3 and 4. If the problem remains in 4, swap the injectors. I had a bad injector in 4. Sean and Sam diagnosed it by doing the above.

Good point, Jamie. We took Jman's injectors out and found a lot of trash in the fuel rail. That's always a possibility too.

I think its time for new plugs, so start with that. Clear the CEL, wait for it to come back on, then do a 3/4 coil swap. Clear the CEL, wait for the CEL to come back on, then 3/4 injector swap. If its none of those start working back through the fuel line.

Most likely its a bad injector- a more common problem with the S.

It also might be a good time to have your injectors flushed/checked. There is a place in CA that does it for $20 each. There may be a local place that another board member knows of.

I had that CEL 6 months ago but it was ALSO cylinders 1,2 AND 4. I checked the plugs and they were fried. Replace plugs and cross fingers, mine were fine after I replaced. Also, I need to find out why my plugs were SOAKED in oil

Well, seeing how Ive been putting off my valve adjustment for various reasons for well over a year now... Id be willing to bet that its a gap. Could be why Im smoking now too. Everytime I get ready to get the valves done something pops up that is more priority... I think valve adjustment is about top of the list now.
