Carolinas PCA = JackAsses!!
OK. I have counted to one million but every mile I drove back this morning from CMP
(270 miles) just made me madder ... so I am very pissed off at the moment.
I send it my application and money a month ago for this weekend's track event. Two
days of driving at CMP bliss. Or so I thought...
I was put on the waiting list. No biggie, I probably was just too late in sending the money.
So three weeks ago I send them an email asking them what are the chances of me getting in.
They reply with a non commital answer so I did not ask for my money back and did
not make plans just in case.
Then last Sunday night I get an email saying that they had cancellations and I was in. GREAT!
I also get a voice mail on Monday (which I did not receive until Wed afternoon - recall my
post about changing my number). The voice mail just said "I need to talk to you, please call xxx".
I called back and got the machine, I replied to the email and got no answer. So I left for
CMP last night around 7 pm.
So when I show up at registration this morning they say " Ahh yes, we have been meaning
to ask you about your roll cage". I told them I did not have one. So they tell me THEY CAN'T LET ME IN!!! I am going WTF??. They proceed to make some lame excuse for not contacting me
and how because my number was changed (so it was my frigging fault!!). Then they just
finish up with "It is in the application you know?".
Yeah sure it is in the application :
(1) Roll bar must meet PCA Club Race specs for materials, design, installation and height. (2) The top of the main hoop must be at least two inches above the occupants

Geez, folks are really inconsiderate these days. What a shame and a 270 mile trip is not fun, when you are unable to have fun. The waste of time and wear/tear on your S2000. Unfortunate, to say the least.
Guess we won't be setting up any S2000 related events at this place. The fact that they have allowed you in before and now won't.
Sorry man, have this drink on me --->

It wasn't CMP (the track) that did not let me in. It was the Carolinas Porsche Club of America. The people
that organize the events I have attended before are
the folks from Turn1motorsports. THEY are cool.
I just thought I clarify that since you said 'won't be setting any events at this place'.
I started drinking already..:-)
Just remember, the jackasses are the people at the Carolina's PCA . Not the people at the track (CMP) or Turn1MotorSports.

Seriously, that's pretty bad. But at least you know how they work. And I'd really talk to the person in charge and very politely ask for your refund + expenses. If that doesn't work, ask what he drives, liscense #, and where he parks it at night

I was doing a search on the roll bar thing, and found this post. I feel bad for the way you were treated, which is PCA's fault and inexcusable.
It is a common rule however and one I am trying to research before buying my next car. Every club I know of has the broomstick rule. SCCA, NASA, Midwestern Council, PCA. Some waive it for autocrosses but enforce it on track events. Depends who you run with. Some tech chiefs will even read the rule as stock roll bars do not have to meet the broomstick.
I went to the dealership last night and had my wife eyeball my head vs. the S2k, which is about 1" above that imaginary line between the roll bar and the windsheild. Thing is, I'm only 5'9"!!! I guess I'm built like an ape. I'd love to have one, but with a helmet I'd have to come up with at least 4" between a lower seat and new roll bar.
