Can Anyone Recommend a Driving School?
My navigator and I are looking for a school in the Southeast. Anybody have a recommendation (other than Bubba's Track and Cart)?

Yes, I also would be very interested in attending something as well. . .always good to have!
I think there may be a good school in Atlanta, but not sure. I'll post this in the Atlanta Club forum and see if we get any bites. . .

hey guys,
http://www.virclub.com/
VIR offers quite a bit of schools. Click on Schedule (on the left).
Take a look at such renters as Skip Barber, Bertil Roos, Car Guys, & Tracktime. I was going to try and take something over the summer but the s was still very new and i was still braking it in. I have not done too much research but the classes are there and I most definitely wanna take something in the spring....

I have taken the Mid Ohio school a few times and it was excellent. Several of my friends have taken the Panoz school at Road Atlanta and recommended it highly. At a track day at CMP, I was parked next to a veteran racer who said that the Porsche school at Road Atlanta was the best he'd ever been to. He had done many schools and felt that it greatly improved his driving.
It is true about VIR. I was supposed to do a Car Guys school there in October and they contacted me telling me that my car would not meet the safety requirements. Specifically, they have a problem with the roll hoops. Their concern is not only about the height of the hoops but also that that particular configuration is prone to causing the car to roll rather than slide if the car was upside down at speed. They want a 4 or 5 point rollbar with a diagonal support. I have contacted a manufacturer in Bethania NC who makes miata rollbars and he gave me an estimate of $600 to $700. I am somewhat reluctant to permanently alter the interior just yet though. I am seriously contemplating the hardtop but don't know if that will be enough.
Any ideas?
