I used the spray can method and my calipers look almost as good nearly 4 years later.

Mike, just spray 'em man... I've got a can of high-temp red if you want it...
Don't even bother with taking the calipers off, just tape off everything around 'em and spray away... Might wanna dremel off some of the castings marks of the calipers beforehand... Turns out a lot cleaner looking IMO...
