Black Lake autocross -- 7/18 & 19
Registration is open for the Fairway Subaru/Folger Subaru "Black Lake Shootout," July 18-19 at the Michelin Proving Grounds in Laurens, SC. For those of you have never run at the "Black Lake," it's 1400 ft x 400 ft of perfectly smooth, flat, obstacle-free asphalt - in short, one of the best autocross sites in the southeast.
The "Black Lake Shootout" is a two-day event, jointly hosted by Central Carolinas Region SCCA and South Carolina Region SCCA. Entry fees are $55 for SCCA Members, and $75 for Non-Members (advance payment; $5 charge for on-site payment).
Advance registration is REQUIRED for this event, due to an expected turnout of over 200 cars. There is a mail-in registration form in the supplementary regulations, for anyone who cannot register online. Mail-in entries must be received by July 8.

Alright, Jay has me rethinking this.
Mapquest says 7:45 from VB. If I bust ass I could get all my work done by Thursday and have Friday to travel, hmmm.
Is it worth the drive for me to run on 1 yr old tires? Garrett you saw them. I think they are in good shape but I may have a codriver that'll want to come along. Do I try to come down now or another time on fresh tires? These are just a couple of the questions I need to find the answers to.
Also if I can make it, what class would I run in regular AS? What is everyone else (AS) going to register for? Jay, Jon, Garrett, etc?

Come down Jeff! It's worth the drive, IMO. But then, I've been to Arkansas, Indiana, Virginia, etc. for autocrosses this year. So, traveling is getting to be pretty regular.
But really, if you're looking for some fierce competition, sign up for our PRO class and jump in. You can expect somewhere around 20 (maybe more for this event) drivers in the class that are all very, very good. It's a PAX'd class, of course. Jay and Jon have each won at least one event this year, so AS is competitive.
If you're coming with those tires, I'd definitely bring a co-driver. You'll need it to get some heat in them. Of course, bring a sprayer also, as they may get too hot on the blazing hot South Carolina asphalt.
Hope to see ya next week!
My number is 864-350-0709 if you have any questions. I don't check the forums very often these days... been running like crazy with work.

Only 5 S2000's pre-registered... If you live in Charlotte, Columbia or GSP and enjoy autocrossing, you should be at this event. This site is fantastic and I heard the course designer is pretty good too.
