Maybe alot of the organizers are moving on and nobody wants to step up to the task?
I've had my run at organizing events and enjoyed them all......I like the smaller local 12-15 S2000 meets a bit better than the mega-meets.
The Dragon is in a different league tho. Someone needs to step up & help Raul there.

Hmmm, I really enjoy this site and community and people here... I'd be more than willing to lend a hand if and when needed... Being the noob, I'm not exactly sure where I can fit in though... We have a great local community here and the people of the Carolinas are top notch... Hate to see it gradually fade away...

Some of us have turned into track junkies.
The dragon is about 9 hours away with the track only 4 hours away. I'm safer and am having more fun there for now.

have have noticed he same thing. I think it basically comes down to our great organizers Raul and his support staff and our great venue. The dragon is great and the location is semi-central for quite a few S2k owners. Not to mention once you have gotten the dragon bug you realize it is worth whatever the drive time.
I know fall colors was something I had really wanted to do in the past. Hitting the track with a ton of other owners was very appealling. When gas, time, mileage on the car was tallied up on top of the fees for the event it was just not worth it to me. I kept hoping it would eventually move further south to make it more realistic, but instead they were talking of going further north.
Other events don't have the big hook for me. I need awesome driving. Because of my odd schedule I have to take off work for a good portion of the events I come to. I like most try to ration my vacation days. I have known for quite some time that I will need to take at least 3 days to attend DBR. Most likely I will go ahead and take a 4th day to make it a solid 12 days off in a row (don't ask).

While the Dragon as a "venue" may be a given, these events still take a HUGE amount of effort and planning, and doing more than 2 a year would be tough.
Personally, I prefer the smaller events, but wouldn't give up our "Big" ones for anything. They're just 2 very different experiences.
Now.....about that "no hot women" comment........
